Emergency Communications Officer

Details: Douglas County Emergency Communications Officer                                                                                     (  911 Dispatch Center)Douglas County is accepting applications for a 6 month pool (July 2012-January 2013) for career oriented Communications Officers.  The Center operates 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week.  Essential functions of the job include: gathering, evaluating, prioritizing and documenting information; processing calls, including dispatching calls to the appropriate agencies; maintaining/monitoring radio communications with Police, Fire and EMS personnel; upholding confidentiality of information received; utilizing a multi-screen computer system, two-way radio, phone system, headset, and foot pedals while receiving/processing phone calls.  Must pass mandatory background investigation/drug screen and will be required to comply with shift work including weekends, holidays, and overtime. Basic requirements include a high school diploma or G.E.D.  Health insurance, retirement, paid leaves, $14.82/hr.  Submit application online at www.douglas-county.com by 5:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013.  EOE.
